ByWard Market: The Party Zone
This is Ottawa's answer to Toronto's Entertainment District — loud, packed, mostly 22-year-olds. Heart & Crown anchors the strip with Irish pub vibes and a huge patio. The Standard is where the party moves after 11 PM. Cathcart Street Grill hides an excellent late-night pizza kitchen behind the bar.
Elgin Street: Grown-Up Drinks
If you're past the "shots and top-40 mashups" phase, Elgin is your street. Union 613 has a speakeasy in the basement (password changes weekly — check their Instagram). Manx Pub is a beloved literary hangout with Guinness and pierogies. Copper Spirits and Sights is a rooftop cocktail bar overlooking the Parliament dome.
Wellington West: Craft Beer & Bistros
Beyond the Pale and Dominion City Brewing both run tap rooms that feel more like living rooms than bars. Bar Robo across the street has some of the city's most creative cocktails and a rotating art wall.
